TheRampMan Story: From 4x2s to Next-Level Custom Metal Ramps
Let’s be real — for years, the only real option out there was a 4×2 (four by two).
Everyone used it because, well, it was the only thing available. Nothing really evolved.
But here’s the thing: I was getting frustrated. It didn’t quite eliminate that ba$tard bump — especially for lowered cars like mine, or in hilly spots like Auckland, Wellington, and circular cul-de-sacs. Bottoming out or needing a push in my wheelchair every time? Not fun.
From Frustration to Innovation
People kept hitting me up with requests:

It wasn’t just cars anymore — it was everything.
So I thought: Bugger it — let’s do something nobody else is doing.
And that’s how TheRampMan was born in early 2025.
Built in Rolleston/Christchurch, Built to Last
We’re now fully set up in Rolleston, with a ridgy-didge laser cutter, folder, and welding setup.
This gear does the lot — no drilling, no mess, no mucking around.
We can even blast-cut your logo, or get creative with custom designs (think ferns in fencing panels — yep, that’s a thing).
I’m a Graphic Designer by trade, so design? Covered. I’ll work directly with our engineers to bring your ideas to life, end to end.
Because we source Aluminium 5052 plate directly and handle fabrication, folding, and welding all under one roof, we’ve made it super cost-effective — without compromising strength, safety, or style.
We’re conscious about recycling too, being clever with designs so we don’t create waste.
The Uptake? Massive
We’ve had interest flooding in from Auckland to Wellington, and since we’re South Island-based, we can turn things around quickly — especially for places like Queenstown.
Why This Is Personal
Here’s the kicker — a few years ago, I couldn’t even walk due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
I know what access challenges feel like.
Now I’m turning that experience into something that genuinely helps others.

TheRampMan’s 50 mm or 75 mm Fixings Pack contains Torx 6.0 mm X 50 mm or 75 mm long Hardtec SS CSK 6 Lobe 20/- CONCRETE SCREWS X5, Plus 1X Propriatorey Torx Driver Bit, can be supplied with each order – just ask.
Great for security, these Torx six-pointed star-shaped pattern 6.0 mm diameter HardTec Stainless Steel (SS), Countersunk (CSK), Concrete Screws are far superior to any other DIY masonry screws out there on the market like Ramset 14g (6.3 mm) Masonry Screws. These CSK Screws are 100% removable masonry anchors with superior clamping force when used close to the edge of the ramp (35 mm – 50 mm).
Higher corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, almost twice as strong as 304 or 316 stainless steel, 100% fully stainless steel. Perfect for use in concrete and asphalt! Hardtec is a registered brand name of an alloy known as KDS2000, made by Daido Steel (from Nippon Steel). It’s a proprietary stainless grade that has been developed to combine the high corrosion resistance of Austenitic grades like 304 and the hardness of heat-treated Martensitic grades like 410 stainless steel.
Hardtec has a chemistry very similar to 410 stainless steel; but also has 1% of Molybdenum added to it. Molybdenum is the element that gives grade 316 its corrosion resistance improvement over grade 304. Hardtec stainless offers high levels of corrosion resistance, the decline of which was previously unavoidable with heat-treated grades like 410.
