Welcome to TheRampMan.nz! Where New Zealand’s best Custom Metal Access Ramps are made.
Welcome to the next evolution in driveway access: the Selwyn Semi-Height Ramp. Precision engineered, laser-cut to shape, ultra-smooth, and built to outlast every driveway drama Selwyn can throw at it. Whether you’re tired of flappy tin ramps or done with your car scraping on the way in or out, this is your forever fix.
If you live in Rolleston, Lincoln, Prebbleton, West Melton, Kirwee, Leeston, Tai Tapu, Burnham, Templeton, Springston, Dunsandel, or Southbridge and you’ve been dealing with a dodgy ramp or no ramp at all, it’s time to upgrade to the next level.
You’ve seen the old-school ramps — thin, folded metal, fixed with whatever bolts someone had in their ute tray. They rust, they sag, they rattle, they trap water, they build gardens, and eventually they pancake.
Then came KERBY™. A revolution in council-compliant, heavy-duty, 6mm aluminium extrusion ramps. Built in Selwyn. Installed properly. Loved by thousands.
Now? We go next level.
A low-profile, whisper-smooth ramp designed to sit proud atop even a KERBY™ — elevating your access game. This is the sleek, stealthy, beautifully contoured upgrade for:
Invest once. Enjoy silence forever.

🏗️ The best Custom Metal Access Ramps in NZ – from Northland to Southland, Auckland to Wellington, Rolleston to Queenstown, Timaru, Dunedin and Invercargill, and everywhere in between.
Let’s be real — for years, the only viable option out there was KERBY™.
‘Everyone’ in Selwyn, Canterbury, NZ, used this aluminium extrusion because it was the only thing available, the best ramp at the time. From 2020 to now, nothing really has evolved. But here’s the thing: I was getting frustrated. It didn’t quite eliminate that ba$tard bump — especially for lowered cars like mine and particularly in hilly situations like Auckland, Wellington, Port Hills of Christchurch, and circular cul-de-sacs. Bottoming out or needing a push in my wheelchair every time? Not fun.
On top of that, people kept reaching out with requests:
“Can you help with my hill driveway entrance from the road and the dip into the garage over that drainage channel?”
“My lowered car nose scrapes when coming out of my driveway.”
“My lowered car rear scrapes when coming into my driveway.”
“Can you do something for mobility solutions?”
“What about ramps for ATVs, bikes, caravans, motorhomes, trailers, boats, hoists, forklift ramps, gate slider ramps to eliminate Health & Safety risks — or even fencing features, wheelchair access for doorways, and more!?”
It wasn’t just cars anymore — it was everything.
And I thought: “Bugger it — let’s do something nobody else is doing – make the best custom-made metal ramps in New Zealand”.
So, TheRampMan was born in early 2025…
We’re now fully set up in Rolleston, with a ridgy-didge laser cutter, folder, and welding setup. This gear does it all — no drilling, no mess, no mucking around. We can even blast-cut your logo, or get creative with custom designs (think ferns in fencing panels — yeah, that’s a thing).
I’m a Graphic Designer by trade, so design? Covered. I’ll work directly with our engineers to make your ideas happen, end to end.
Because we source the Aluminium 5052 plate directly and handle fabrication, folding, and welding all under one roof, we’ve made it super cost-effective — without compromising strength, safety, or style. Plus, we are conscious of recycling and mindful with our designs to avoid waste.
The uptake? Massive. We’ve got interest flooding in from Auckland to Wellington, Nelson to Invercargill, and since we’re South Island-based, we can turn things around very quickly — especially for places like Timaru and Queenstown.
And here’s the kicker — I couldn’t even walk a few years ago due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). I know what access challenges feel like. Now I’m turning that experience into something that genuinely helps others.
That’s the real win!
Oh — and these new custom ramp plates? They’re the Rolls-Royce of ramps.
In my humble (and tested) opinion, they eliminate the bump 99% smoother than anything else on the market.
PLUS, the new-to-market fixings I supply are next-level — think 316 stainless steel on steroids and twice as strong at a very good price! More info in your FREE QUOTE.
This isn’t just a business. It’s personal.
It’s custom – It’s next-level.
🚨 Need a Metal Access Ramp ASAP? Yes, we can — but here’s the deal…
We use a ridgy-didgy industrial laser cutter – it’s fast, accurate, and built for serious work. But… it takes at least 2.5 hours to warm up and calibrate, and burns through over $100+GST in power just to get started. 😬
That’s why we usually wait to run a batch of orders at once — it keeps things efficient and affordable for everyone.
💥 Can we make a ramp urgently? Absolutely.
But:
It’ll cost a bit more to run the machine for a one-off.
If folding, welding, or countersinking is needed, allow extra time.
Most urgent jobs still take at least 1–2 days, depending on the queue.
⏳ SO as a general rule, give us a week or so to get your ramp fully processed and ready.
If you’re in a rush, we’ll help — just know it might cost a little extra – so let’s talk!

🔩 Plus Precision Matters – That’s Why I Use a Laser Cutter
Every ramp I make is custom-cut with industrial laser precision – no guesswork, no rough edges. No more hand grinding, no more arduous, expensive labour, no more drilling multiple holes, and no more middle men!
That means:
Perfect fit to your driveway, gate, kerb, or vehicle.
Faster install, better alignment, and cleaner safe edges, holes and welds.
Cleaner look – no jagged cuts or messy grinders, nice rounded 30 mm radii.
Ultimate durability – exact specs = no weak points.
From car ramps to forklift or wheelchair access, every detail matters – and my laser cutter gets it millimetre-perfect.

TheRampMan’s DIY Fixings Pack contain one Torx Head Driver for our, 6.0 mm dimeter x +/- 50 mm or +/- 75 mm or +/- 105 mm long Countersunk CONCRETE SCREWS which will be supplied additionally with each order. Each pack has X5 Concrete Screws of one particular length suited to your situation, plus a proprietary drill bit driver, a concrete drill and more.
Great for security, these Torx six-pointed star-shaped pattern 6.0 mm diameter Countersunk (CSK), Concrete Screws are far superior to any other DIY masonry screws out there on the market like Ramset 14g (6.3 mm) Masonry Screws. These CSK Screws are 100% removable Concrete Screws (NOT masonry anchors), with superior clamping force when used close to the edge of the ramp (35 mm – 50 mm).
High corrosion resistance and perfect for use in concrete and asphalt!
These are the best of the best, and you cannot get these off the shelf at your local hardware store. They are a little bit more expensive, but they go the distance.
We also have another option if fixing on the roadside. These are slightly different but suited to both concrete and asphalt. They drive directly into the surface with a monster double thread. Same Torx head size, same diameter. I will quote what best suits your situation and supply details about it.
At your end, all you’ll need is a drill with a hammer function and a 5.5 mm Concrete Drill to suit your drill. Easy as!
Pop the ramp down, mark the holes with your drill bit through the ramp holes, move the ramp away and drill the concrete holes 30 mm deeper than the length of the concrete screw, blow the dust out, put the ramp back, screw the Concrete Screws in firm, and voila!
Set and forget, and get your sanity back again!
Here are the FAQs from real Kiwis like you…
Yes, absolutely.
Unlike those dodgy rubber ramps that block water and flip up into the street (or worse, the sweeper), TheRampMan’s ramps are fully council-compliant.
No tripping hazards. No water pooling. No fines.
One road sweeper even jumped out of his truck, shook my hand and said:
“I love these. I want one for my own driveway. I’m forever kicking away loose rubber mats and bits of wood that get sucked up into my sweeper.”
✅ Real-world proof. Built to last. Council and common sense approved.
Yes — and leaves too.
There’s a clear channel underneath every ramp so water can flow freely and debris won’t get stuck.
No blockages. No flooding. No stress.
You bet.
Thanks to my ridgy-didgy laser cutter, I can create precision-cut custom ramps to suit any shape — curved, angled, or tricky driveways.
Just send through a few pics and basic measurements.

📍 11 Illinois Drive, Christchurch
It’s built to handle serious traffic — and it looks mint.
(See the top image on this site!).
Yes, I sure do — across Canterbury and beyond.
For locals, I handle everything from measure-up to full install.
Outside of Christchurch? I can fly up to Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga or drive down to Timaru, Dunedin or Queenstown if needed — just allow for travel costs.
If it lines up with a weekend or a visit to mates on the North Shore or in Flat Bush, I can often work it in. Let’s have a yarn and make it happen. I am currently working on an installer for each region… watch this space.

Welcome to the next evolution in driveway access: the Selwyn Semi-Height Ramp. Precision engineered, ultra-smooth, folded flat top for excellent, strong mounting and strength, and built to outlast every driveway drama Selwyn can throw at it.
Tired of flappy tin ramps, the whimpy West Melton folded metal ramps, the rusty old saggy steel DIY jobs, ye ol’ flag poles, the random rubber ramps that the road sweeper eats for breakfast, or the sad old four by two back yard job, but mainly, done with your car scraping on the way in or out, this is your forever fix.

Then came KERBY™. A revolution in council-compliant, super heavy-duty, 6mm aluminium extrusion ramps. Built in Selwyn. Installed properly. Loved by thousands.
